Горные лыжи Tiffindell Ski Resort was the venue of the first-ever FIS Alpine Ski races held on the African continent. The Tiffindell resort is situated at the 3001m high Ben Mac Dhui Mountain in the Southern Drakensberg Mountain range (Eastern Cape).
4-5 August 2014. On the schedule were the 2014 National Slalom Championship, the 2014 National Slalom Junior Championship and two additional international Men’s Slalom FIS races.
The National Championship was won by Alexander Koell (SWE) while 18-year-old Martin Pitterle (AUT) took the title in the junior category. In the additional Slalom competitions, Alexander Koell and Tim Lindgren (SWE) clocked the fastest times.
Besides six internationally licensed skiers from South Africa the events featured some top skiers from Sweden, Austria and Slovenia.
Despite an extremely dry 2014 winter season in South Africa and poor natural snow, low temperatures have allowed Tiffindell to utilize their substancially extended snowmaking equipment to provide excellent conditions for all competitions at Tiffindell.
