Беговые лыжи For the first time ever and over the upcoming weekend, Ulricehamn will host the World Cup in cross country skiing. The Swedish venue located in in Västergötland, the Western part of the country, will join the ranks of well-known ski resorts such as Lillehammer, Davos, Val di Fiemme, Lahti, Oslo and many more in the calendar for the World Cup 2016/17. The competitions include both free technique distance races on Saturday and the relay events for men and women on Sunday.
Cross-country skiing originated in Fennoscandian countries in prehistoric times. It was still widely practiced in the 19th century as a way of moving from place to place in winter. As a sport, cross-country skiing is one of the most difficult endurance sports, as its motions use every major muscle group. Modern cross-country ski competition is experiencing a revolution that is resulting in greater compatibility with audiences which began with the addition of the Sprint event to the World Cup and Olympic competitions in 2002.
